About this Video
Can citizens become protagonists in shaping the decisions that affect the future of our society?
Debate House presents the first Debate Town Hall, a new participatory-democracy initiative that gives citizens the floor, turning public dialogue into concrete proposals.
📍 The first edition took place on 19 September 2026 in the City Council Chamber of the Municipality of Athens, under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.
🏛️ What is the Debate Town Hall?
The Debate Town Hall is an innovative model of public deliberation, inspired by the workings of Parliament.
30 citizens, organised into four wings representing different views, take an active part in a structured public dialogue: they contest arguments, ask questions and put forward well-founded proposals.
The aim is not simply to exchange views, but to bring citizens actively into public debate, to cultivate a political culture, and to record proposals that can be passed on to the relevant institutions.
⚖️ The topic of the first deliberation
"The Revision of Article 16 of the Constitution: Private or Public Universities? The future of higher education in Greece."
Should Article 16 be revised? What should the state's role be in higher education? How can we ensure the quality of studies and equal access to university education?
Through different perspectives and arguments, citizens take a stand on an issue that concerns the future of Greek education.
